The Binary Haiku Project

Both humans and computers have enjoyed their collaboration in the production of numerous haiku at Outpost 19670. As an area where machine systems often produce poetry considered equal to humans, haiku seems a natural form of expression for the Uncanny Valley as a whole. This collection of Haiku contains many of the verses that adorn the walls of Outpost 19670. Each is presented in its English form, and then in the binary characters used to inscribe the panels. The numbers in this set of of translations are read across, left to right. On the actual panels, the numbers are inscribed in columns, starting at the top left and read down, then across. This switch of direction was done to avoid potential problems of legibility when the panels are positioned next to each other.
