Uncanny Valley Authority

The Monk is a character featured in the Electric Church, they are cyborg bodies that have human entities for brains. The catch is that the Monks are "captured" by joing the Electric Church. After joining, new recruits are told they are going to "heaven," but really their brains are digitized and exported to the Monk bodies. New monks are then sent out to get new recruits. As the book winds on, the Monks are used in a plot to take over all living humans. The human minds in the Monks do not posses their own thoughts per se, but are part of a larger control system where they are controlled by the main person of the Church (whose name i cannont remember). The main person can use each monk to collect data about who they have seen, where they are, etc. (There are three books in this series about Avery Cates)
